Welcome Perspective Members

Membership in the Aurora Lions club is a privilege. You may be invited to join the world’s largest and most active service club organization; a group of over 1.4 million men and women in over 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas around the globe, who are dedicated to making a difference. Through your membership, you will help our club reach out to people in need in our community, and throughout the world.

Our own club was founded in 1922. For over 100 years we have been serving those in need in our community. We are dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired.   We exemplify our motto “We Serve” with projects ranging from vision screening and services to volunteering with local organizations in diabetes education, hunger prevention and environmental activities.

You will find that membership in our Lions club will offer many opportunities for personal growth. Not only can you experience the incomparable feeling you receive from volunteering, but you will also have the chance to hone leadership, communication, and organizational skills. You can develop friendships that last a lifetime and contribute ideas that will help our club be an even more valuable part of our community.

Your membership in the Aurora Lions Club will allow us to reach more people in need. The officers and members of this club are happy that you have chosen to explore how you can help us continue the legacy of Lions Clubs International by improving the lives of the less fortunate and making our community an even better place to live.

Member Responsibilities

Club dues are $120 per year.  Dues are billed $30 per quarter on the 15th of the month prior to the beginning of each quarter.  Payments may be made in person at a meeting, by mail, or online and must be paid within 14 days.

Evites will be sent out prior to each meeting.  A prompt response allows for an accurate count for meals, handouts, etc.

Members are expected to sign in on the attendance sheet at meetings.

The Aurora Lions Club is a service organization and as such, members are expected to participate in service activities, events and committee meetings as much as possible.

Many of these are held on evenings and weekends.  There are many volunteer/service activities that are not strenuous.  Such activities include registration, correspondence, data collection, newsletters, etc.

Traditionally, 5 tickets to the Bunny Pancake Breakfast and the Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast are given to each member to buy or sell.  These fundraisers allow us to provide our community service.

Time & Location of Meetings

Meetings are the first and third Thursday of each month at noon  with the exception of four quarterly evening meetings.  The meeting place is St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 27 S Edgelawn Drive, Aurora, IL 60506.  Some meetings are held at the location of the event, speaker, or service.
